Join the Go-Ro Community Challenge
The Go-Ro is a true community event — a place where people can come together to show their support and share their stories about dementia and how it has touched their lives and families.
If you’d like to be part of our team, just text your name to O7788 249 875 and join the Go-Ro!
Each week, more and more people are joining — and every metre rowed brings us closer to our ambitious target of 17.5 million metres, symbolically taking us all the way to the Wicking Dementia Research Centre in Tasmania, Australia.
There are tears, laughter, and above all, solidarity — everyone pulling together toward one shared goal: raising £20,000 to support both Dementia UK and St Barnabas Hospice in Worthing.
Together, we row for hope, for memories, and for a future without dementia.

I am a 53 year old guy with visual impairment who has always found great inspiration in doing challenges for worthy causes. Having a disability myself allows me appreciate the challenges of everyday life faced by people with dementia and their families. What better way to give back a little by rowing some metres for this challenge.
An obstacle is only as big as you allow it to be and through the challenges of life there is always a way to find purpose and way to do something if you set your mind to it.
Be inspired by my story and others alike.

I had seen Rebecca rowing outside the GoodOaks office in Worthing a few times, and got up the courage one day to ask her what it was all about, "Rowing to raise money for Dementia UK" she told me.
Those were the magic words. I lost my mum to Dementia in 2020 and my dad has gone the same way in the last year, so I asked what I could do other than donate some cash to the cause, "you can come and row with us" she said.
So, I started back in July and you can regularly find me out there rowing and raising awareness (and hopefully funds too) for a cause close to my heart. I'm a 44 year old from Lancashire originally, but I moved down south in 2005, so I've nearly been as long here as I was there - hence I never know how to answer the question 'where are you from?'
I completed couch to 5k last year and have been running regularly ever since, but I love mixing up my exercise routine with the rowing a couple of times per week. Rebecca tells me that regular exercise keeps the Dementia at bay, let's hope that's true.
